Our Neighborhood

Our Urban Neighborhood is Rich in Amenities and Services

Located in Saint Paul’s Midway neighborhood on University Avenue just west of Fairview Avenue, the Episcopal Homes campus is in the heart of a vibrant urban neighborhood that will meet your needs and expand your opportunities.

On Campus at Episcopal Homes

Residents of Episcopal Homes’ communities benefit from many services offered on our campus – Gift Shop, Beauty Shop, Café, cultural events and activities, bookmobile, and worship services. But residents and visitors have easy access to a wide variety of amenities in the surrounding neighborhood. Our campus bus takes residents on regular shopping and social outings, but bus transit (and light rail in 2014) connects Episcopal Homes to all that the larger community offers.

In the Immediate Neighborhood

Within a short walk or ride along University Avenue, you can enjoy familiar fast food (Arby’s, Wendy’s, Subway) or eat-in dining (Perkin’s) or sample from a wide range of local ethnic restaurants and cafés. Many fine dining establishments (The Lexington, Café Biaggio) as well as smaller sandwich and coffee shops are within a mile or two.

For groceries, Rainbow and Cub Foods are less than a mile east on University Avenue. Within the same shopping area are pharmacies (CVS and Walgreens), major department stores (Target, Walmart, and Herberger’s), and a wide range of small retailers and services. The enclosed Rosedale Mall is just a few miles from the campus.

For recreation and community involvement, residents and their visitors will find Episcopal Homes very well-situated. To the south, we border an established residential neighborhood. The lovely Iris Park, with its duck pond and fountain, is adjacent to the campus. Merriam Park, with Keystone Community Services (www.keystonecommunityservices.org), is a few blocks away. The Merriam Park branch of the Saint Paul Public Library (www.sppl.org/about/locations/merriam-park) is a half mile south at Fairview and Marshall, and the Midway Family YMCA (www.ymcatwincities.org/locations/st_paul_midway_ymca/) is a few blocks east on University Ave. Churches of all denominations are scattered throughout the area.
